The Route Description

Carved in the hard red sandstone of the Aravalli Hills and located outside Jaipur Galtaji is a historic Temple Complex. Comprising of multiple shrines, kunds, pavilions and springs this is a perfect photography paradise. Visit the temple gorge where the water of the nearby springs collects and take in the coolness. Located near the city, the walls of this temple are beautifully adorned with carvings and paintings that make this place worth visiting. The Galtaji temple is unique in its architecture and has been constructed like a palace. The background of the lush green trees and bushes adds to the beauty. Click pictures against the remarkable building, painted walls, round roofs and pillars. The temple complex boasts of natural freshwater springs and seven holy 'kunds' or water tanks. Among these kunds, the 'Galta Kund', is the holiest one and is believed never to get dry. The Galta Monkey Temple has a scenic and gorgeous landscape featuring rich green vegetation and has a spectacular sight of the Jaipur city. This temple is known for the many tribes of monkeys which are a good company when you visit and you can enjoy feeding but be careful.

Getting Here Description

By Car: Located on the western outskirts of Jaipur. Need to hike up from Shraddha Hospital. About 20 minutes to the main temple. 

Hike: The route that starts from the Suraj Pole gate and crosses the Galta temple gate, it is large stone archway coloured in pink. Go up the hill, pass the Sun temple till you reach the main enterance. The hike can be completed in 30- 45 minutes.
