Right in the middle of the walled old city of Jaipur lies the magnificent City Palace, which is now part museum. This is the go-to palace for experiencing royalty firsthand, as the palace was once the seat of the kings of Jaipur. It was from here that they ruled the region. One of the best tourist spots in the city, the City Palace is a vast complex and includes several buildings, courtyards, and gardens. Two of the main palaces in the complex are the Chandra Mahal and the Mubarak Mahal. For history lovers this is just the place to see the architectural fusion of Indian, Mughal, Rajput designs and even European styles that add to the grandeur of the palace.
Observe the red and pink sandstone build of the palace that adds a special beauty to it. The eye catch are the decorated gateways which stand tall in complete elegance and magnificence. Step into the museum or sit in the gardens or watch the nearby city unfold from the various stores of the palace. Step out to the main street called Tripolia Bazaar (lit. Three Gates) and check out the lacquer jewelry, don’t be shy to bargain. Try the local snack shops for local mouth smacking delicacies.
By Car: There is big parking behind the palace grounds, enterance is from Hawa Mahal Road.
Public Transport: About 700 m from Badi Chaupar Metro
The enterance to Hawa Mahal is from the City Palace
