A trip to Agra is incomplete without visiting this well-preserved city of Fatehpur Sikri. Visit this red sandstone city constructed during the height of the Mughal empire to experience the way of life during that period. Now a UNESCO world heritage site, it is home to Jodha Bai's Palace, Jama Mosque, Buland Darwaza, and Tomb of Salim Chisti among many other famous monuments that make the face of a decorated tourist spot. Experience the amazing geometric architecture which makes up the beautiful structure of the door, gates, building structures and complexes and palaces. Watch the stunning Jama Masjid and engulf the awe of devotion. Spend time at nuggets like, Hall of Public Audience where public meetings and gatherings were held. The ample open space stands on 49 pillars and is a marvel to watch. At walking distance is the Panch Mahal has the design elements of a Buddhist Temple which has a huge pavilion which gives a splendid view of the fort and along the side is the Anoop Talab which once was a setting for musical concerts for King Akbar. Visit the tomb of Salim Chisti where the intricate marble screens from all sides present a pleasing look and at the main door offer reading from the Quran. Make a wish and tie a thread to make it come true. Just remember that if the wish comes true then you need to come back to untie that thread!

By Car: About 40 kms West from Agra city on Highway 21. There's Parking available and a bus takes you to the main entrance. 

By Public Transport: Regular buses and trains run from Agra Idgah railway station

Fatehpur Sikiri is enroute to Bharatpur and Jaipur. Keep 4 - 5 hours for the visit, there's lot to see.

Good walking shoes and sun protection. You need to leave your footwear outside before entering the Tomb of Salim Chishti.

It is a good idea to hire an official guide from the ticket counter, they are a cornucopia of knowledge and will make the visit worthwhile. Avoid the unauthorized ones.
