This place is almost synonymous to Ajmer as a city and this prestigious religious shrine is for one and all. It’s a place of exquisite beauty and needs no introduction to anyone. Built in beautiful carved stone, its doors are made of pure silver, and the intricate carvings are a treat to admire. If you have a hidden wish that you desire to be fulfilled then this is just the place for you. The inner courtyard offers and amazing view of the traditional Mughal architecture and also the glimpse to the tomb of the pious saint, Moinuddin Chishti which is carved out of marble. On the top of the dargah, there is gold plating which is another wonder to watch. The dome is guarded by a railing that is made from pure silver and marble. Walk through the long elaborate market and buy a “Chadar” and offer it to the saint`s grave. On the way to the dargah you can see the world’s largest cooking pot where the amazing dal rice is cooked together to form khichdi. Bite into the amazing kachoris outside or just have the famous Ajmer chat in the streets outside. Have a look at the leather products to take back home as souvenirs.
It is impossible to find a parking near the shrine. Best option is to take a rickshaw or taxi.
Dress appropriately at this religious site. No bare arms, legs and heads must be covered. Non - muslims are allowed to visit.
