The best feature in all Swiss hikes is the availability of mountain cable car. The decision to hike up a mountain or climb down is dependent on your fitness levels. This route can be done in both directions and here we provide details from Weisshorn to Hornli, which is mostly downhill and a bit of uphill to challenge your heart and lungs at the end. Start from the cable car at Arosa railway station, change at Mittelstation and reach the Weisshorn peak @ 2650 meters. The Berg restaurant offers 360-degree view and a menu with local specialties. The trail begins with a 320-meter descent via Carmennapass. En route search for the wooden box in which the legend "Der Gottlobstein bei Carmennapass" can be found. The route goes through lush green Alpine meadows with panoramic views. A little before 2 kms the trail starts climbing up - passing Plattenhorn and after roughly 230 meters ascent, the Bergrestraurant Hornli is a welcome sight. On this breathtaking hike, part of the route is paved gravel, but most of the downhill from Weisshorn is rocky - make sure to get good hiking shoes for this trip.

Downhill: Take the cable car from Arosa Bahnhof (Arosa Railway Station) to Weisshorn.
