The Route Description

If nature and classic architecture merged perfectly anywhere it has got to be at Nahargarh Fort. Located on the top of the hill overlooking the entire Jaipur City this fort is a marvel to see. Skip the hustle of the city for some quiet time this is the place with amazing sunrise and sunset views. Take a car or just trek on the well maintained road for the majestic views of the city houses and other monuments. Bring a camera and take endless pictures with mind-blowing backgrounds. Entire architecture is filled with domed ceilings, chiseled arches, fresco paintings, open courtyards and beautiful internal palaces. If this is not enough then take a tour of the uncountable rooms and the main courtyard surrounded by the historical rain water storage ponds or kunds baori. Feel like a king or queen from history while you try the traditional Rajputana costumes offered by locals on rent. Take a stroll on the walls and experience fort life of old times. Listen to legendary folk stories around Prince Nahar and the connection with the fort name. Also visit the Sheesh Mahal and the Jaipur Wax Museum at the entrance or have a nice meal at the RTDC Restaurant.

Getting Here Description

By car / cycle: On the road to Amer, take a left on the Jaigarh Fort road. Drive up the valley and turn left again after 3.5 KMS. The right turn leads to Jaigarh Fort. The left turn to  Jaigarh on Amer Road is about 800 meters from Jal Mahal. 

On Foot: It is possible to walk from the City Palace to Nahargarh Fort via the old city. It is about 3 kms but the last KM has a steep climb of almost 200 meters.

Equipments Description

The Aravali Mountain range is completely devoid of shaded trees. Protect yourself from the sun. It can get hot even during the winter and keep in mind that the temperature will drop significantly as soon as the sun goes down. If you are planning to watch the sunset from here, then make sure that your taxi is waiting. The road is not well let and is lonely in stretches.
