Mehrangarh Fort is the pride of the city of Jodhpur. Visit one of India`s largest forts spread over 5 Kms and relive the rich Rajputana history with sand-coloured walls and amazing architecture. To enter the fort use any of the seven gates, each made by different rulers, go to the higher points of the fort to catch the best view of the blue painted Jodhpur City for which it is famous. Walk through the main palaces like Zenana Dude and Jhanki Mahal to relish expertise craftsmanship. Visit the dual temple complex in the fort itself and walk across to visit the main fort museum exhibiting rich collection of palanquins, musical instruments, royal cradles, costumes, arms, furniture and paintings. Sit in the main restaurant of the Chokelao Bagh, in the open-air and relish a memorable candlelight dinner while enjoying the stunning views of the illuminated fort on one side and the city below on the other. If you are an adventure seeker, you can also try zip-lining at the fort. Every year, the Rajasthan International Folk Festival is celebrated at the fort for five days in the month of October. The fort is also one of the venues for the World Sufi Spirit Festival held in February.
By Car: Large parking available north of the Fort. Drive up the Fort Road.
By Public Transport: No buses go to the Fort but it is walkable from various points in Jodhpur city.
