The Route Description

Visit these amazingly impressive glaciers fed falls near Lauterbrunnen and know that it is a must-see spot if you are in the Interlaken area. If in case you are on a local trek, a hike or just a healthy walk then this has got to be the go-to place. As the visit takes less than an hour, thus it can be covered easily. The falls are a drainage point for glacial melt from the Eiger making it one of the largest glacial falls in Europe. The waters form Jungfrau and Monch, with up to 20,000 liters/second rushing through steep caverns cut deep into the mountain make this an ultimate sight. Walk into the main enormous cavern, which can be explored by walking on a paved path designed just for the purpose. The viewpoints go up and down lots of stairs and just be sure that you would be able to climb them before visiting. If you plan to bring children, then not to worry as the viewpoints are safe for children with high railings however the spray from the waterfall keeps everything wet. The darkness can be a bit overwhelming thus being accustomed to it. There are bike rides also on offer throughout the Lauterbrunnen Valley. You can take an elevator partially up the falls, so you don’t have to walk the whole way up.  Also, there is an elevator access which helps you see the 7-10 falls up close. While coming down by foot you can watch falls 1-6. The Schilthorn cable car stop is about 2.5 kms away.
