The Route Description

Take a leisurely stroll around Europe's biggest waterfall and get awed by the millions of cubic meters of water plunging over the limestone rocks. The falls are open round the year, however, the best time to visit is during the summer months on a clear day. It is recommended to start the trip from the north bank. From April to end of October, a must do activity is to take the No.1 Yellow Line Rock Cruise. This boat ride takes you to the mighty rock that stands between the waterfall and there’s a staircase built into this rock that takes you right at the middle of this spectacle. Don’t be afraid to get wet!

Calm down the senses after the thrilling boat ride by following the walking route number 60 "ViaRhenana" downstream right next to the river. After about one KM, take the pedestrian bridge to get across to the south bank and walk back towards the falls. At the Laufen Castle find the trail that leads to the platforms at the bottom to get into the splash zone. Take your slefies and double back to go up till the Laufen Castle and follow the walking path towards to railway bridge. This bridge has pedestrian access, use it to get back to the North bank and return to the starting point.

Folks thirsting for an additional adventure must try the Adventure Park on the north bank – one of Europe's most spectacular rope parks. This challenging course offers various levels of difficulty, know your limits, and follow all the rules as advised.

The entry from Laufen Castle / South bank costs CHF 5 / person. The entry from the North bank is free.
